Life is a Journey

Posted on

Last week one of my friend took a ride to ‘Leh’ on bike. He came back yesterday and we were talking about his experience. He told “The journey to the Leh was more exciting than the experience he had after reaching Leh.” That reminds me of what I have written about Life. I have compared life with train in the post “Life is Beautiful. Live it , Learn it , Love it“. It is the journey that makes us happy. During our lifetime , we work for reaching something . But when we reach that point , we want something else and we start working on that goal. I am not staying it should not be like that. It should be like that. We should never stop dreaming and reaching our goals. But at the same time , we should learn to enjoy the journey called Life. Isn’t that the reason why we are here ? Whatever we become today , it is because of what we have done in the past. That journey has molded us into something better than what we were in the past. I found this very thoughtful quote on this:

You are the books you read, the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet, the dreams you dream, the conversations you engage in. You are what you take from these. You are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner. You are a collective of every experience you have had in your life. You are every single second of every single day. So drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence. Let the words run through your veins and let the colors fill your mind.

So enjoy the journey called LIFE.

What Others Will Think Of Me ?

Posted on

How many times you didn’t do something that you wanted to do, thinking “What others/society will think of me?” Many of us care about what other people/society will think. I used to think that way. But I realized that no one really cares other than your family and your inner circle . People might say something for few minutes/hours/days then they will forget , busy living their own life. So do whatever you want to do without thinking about what others will think. According to me what really matters is

What others think about you is not as important as what you think of yourself.

Having said that it doesn’t mean , you don’t care about other people. It simply means what others think about you should not stop you from doing things you love to do.  Sometime you feel “The world aint all sunshine and rainbows” and that is completely okay. No matter what happens , keep moving forward and never give up. This is your life. Make it large.

This is your life. Make it large.

I rarely watch TV but being an cricket fan, last Sunday I was watching India vs. Australia wt20. During commercial break, I saw this new ad featuring SRK in which he talks about the joy of getting things for the first time or doing something for the first time. In the end he spoke one line and that caught my attention.

This is your life. Make it large.

We humans can do most of the things we want to do but the real challenge is to be persistent. Success is not a one time thing. It is a continuous process. This theory is very well visualized in movie Rush. It is a story of two F3 drivers and their journey towards becoming F1 world champions. One got satisfied and stopped practicing after winning first title and other kept on practicing and he won several titles. The one who stopped practicing died at the age of 45 and other got worldwide recognition.

So its up to us what we want to do with our life. Either we get satisfied with one time success or we follow below quote by Steve Jobs:

I think if you do something and it turns out pretty good, then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what’s next.

Keep Moving Forward

For the past couple of months , I wad reading many books and one of them was “The Zahir” by Paulo Coehlo. Story of the book revolves around writer , best-selling author and his search of finding his missing wife. I am not going to write review about the book but if you love to read books , enjoy reading my blogs and/or you have some time which you can spend on this book, then you must read this book. Like other books of Paulo Coehlo , this book also contains some life lessons. Here are my favorite quotes from this book which will help us move forward.

– “It is always important to know when something has reached its end. Closing circles, shutting doors, finishing chapters, it doesn’t matter what we call it; what matters is to leave in the past those moments in life that are over.”

– “Ester asked why people are sad.
“That’s simple,” says the old man. “They are the prisoners of their personal history. Everyone believes that the main aim in life is to follow a plan. They never ask if that plan is theirs or if it was created by another person. They accumulate experiences, memories, things, other people’s ideas, and it is more than they can possibly cope with. And that is why they forget their dreams.”

– “Some people appear to be happy, but they simply don’t give the matter much thought. Others make plans: I’m going to have a husband, a home, two children, a house in the country. As long as they’re busy doing that, they’re like bulls looking for the bullfighter: they react instinctively, they blunder on, with no idea where the target is. They get their car, sometimes they even get a Ferrari, and they think that’s the meaning of life, and they never question it. Yet their eyes betray the sadness that even they don’t know they carry in their soul. Are you happy?”

Never Give Up

It has been almost 2 months since I have written any blog. I was little busy and could not find time to write. Even I thought of quitting writing blogs. But I did not and here I am with another blog. Whenever the thought of quitting comes to mind, I started thinking why I started this blog. And I realized just because at present I could not find time to write , I should not quit writing.

“When you think about quitting, remember why you started”.

quit

I am sure you all must have come across such situations. If not , you will. Another incident happened last week. I was working on one project and I got stuck at one problem for couple of days and I thought it is dead end and nothing can be done further. However I didn’t stop and decided to spend few more hours on the problems and surprisingly I was able to resolve the problem. Below image replicate the lesson I learnt.

Never-Give-Up

Happiness – First Experience

Last weekend I was watching Bollywood movie “English Vinglish” and in that there was this scene.

In that “Sri Devi was going to USA for the first time alone and she was bit tensed. At that time Amitabh Bachchan told her that “Pehli baar ek hi baar aata hai (English: “First Time” comes only once) so enjoy it at fullest” “. So true. Isn’t it?

Let me share some of those my first experience. I was very excited when my presentation got selected for a conference for the first time. Later I presented at several other conference but I will never forget that moments/happiness/excitement of first experience. There are many such moments for me and I will cherish them lifetime. I am sure you must have “such” moments. It can be very small. We get happiness from small things. Like:- I was happy when I wrote my first blog . Small things like “Getting window seat on a bus” can make us happy. So enjoy such moments. Life is full of such moments. Life is beautiful. Live it. Love it. Learn it. Don’t make it complicated. 🙂

Alone or Lonely? What’s the Difference?

In English dectionary , Alone and Lonely are synonyms but acording to me they are completely different. Being Lonely means you don’t have someone with you to share something. It can be considered as one of “those” sad moments. While on the other hand I define being Alone as “Enjoying with soul”. Loneliness may kill you but being alone will build you.  From my limited experience , I came to know that most of the people hate “Being Lonely” because they don’t know the power of “Being Alone”. It will help you to heal many problems/difficulties of your life. Okay. I am convinced that by being alone I can build better me but to be frank I don’t have time.I have family[responsibility] , I have job[tension/pressure] , I could not even meet my old friends and there are many more.. But my dear friend “Being Alone” for few minutes is going to help you in all these things. I am not asking for more than 5 minutes daily of your so called “busy” schedule. Okay. I will find time but what to do in these 5-10 minutes What do I get?. Hmm. That’s the problem. We want something from whatever we do. But sometimes best things in the world are free for example what do get by “Smile”. [I will write more about best things in the world in the upcoming post.] In this 5-10 minutes you can:

– Read your diary if you have one

– Check your pictures library [It will make you realize how your life has changed]

– Observe nature [My Favourite]

– Talk to your parents if they are not living with you.

– Think about yourself [Where were you before 5-10 years ago.]

– Do Nothing. [Yes really]

Relativity of Life: Success and Failure

We all have heard of Einstein’s “Theory of Relativity” but this post is about realtivity in our life. When we were small , we were happy with small things and our thought is confined within our small community. If we get higher marks or even beat someone in cricket match , we were more than happy and it is “Success” for us.  But as we grow we came to know about facts of life. And relativity is one of them. As we grow we come to know that what we were considering as a Success is a realative success to our specific community. When I thought more about it, I realized nothing is absolute in this world. Everything is relative.

Relativity

When you got admission into school, you were happy because you got into better school than your friends. In this case your success is relative to your friends. It applies in each and every case including Job, Promotion , Money etc. You can just make list of the things that you are proud of . Then try to find people who are best in related field you have listed. I am sure you can find many people who are more successful in the related field. You might ask “Okay. Agree we live in realtive world and my success is relative to my community but what about the best person in relative field”. The simple answer “He might be the best person in the relative field but he might not have the things you have. To give you an example Stephen Hawking is world’s renowned scientist/physicist. He has great mind but he has to rely on other people to do even his daily tasks.” This example is just to give you an insight into my defination of relativity.  Similarly it applies to failures and human emotions.

Interesting Things about God

This post is inspired by Bollywood movie “OMG(Oh My God)“. If you have not watched it yet, please find some time to watch the movie. It is a story of Kanji, an atheist. By selling idols of gods with make-believe tales he earns a living. One day his shop is destroyed in earthquake. Kanji’s only asset was his shop. He went to insurance company for claim but company rejects his claims on the basis that their cover does not include “act of God”. Then he files a case against God for destroying his property. Kanji sends the notice to all the self-proclaimed God-men who claim to be in constant touch with Him. In the court he has  to prove that “God exists and he has destroyed his property.” Kanji’a argument against so called God-men is awesome and also it gives a remarkable lesson. So Go and Watch. OMG . If you are not Indian and wants to know about God , I have summarised lessons(in my way) from the movie.

1. Does God exists?

-Yes

2. Who is atheist?

– The one who don’t accept the presence of God after experiencing it.

3. If God exists then why can’t we see him?

– As we grow we become more and more selfish and we pray only to God to do a favor maybe good marks in exams, promotions etc. Today we pray to God only when we are in trouble. God exists everywhere. The only thing needed from our side is to experience the supreme power.

– If you have real faith you can see/experience him in even small ants to green leafs.

4. What God is doing for us?

-He has created wonderful nature for us to live. He is always with us.His Job is to show us the right path . We have to reach our destiny by ourselves.

5. What he want from us?

– He does not want to spent your money in Milk ,  flowers , oil , coconut, etc. He does not want any of these things. He wants nothing but little faith in him. If you have some extra money , he wants you to spend those money on helping poor people.

It is not an Experience if you can not learn from it.

We all have heard that “Experience makes man perfect”. “Experience is the best teacher”. But do we know the inside story. Recently I realized that  all the proverb/thoughts are right but not always. It is true that experience is the best teacher but only if you are ready to learn. For example you are working on some project/ somewhere and if you can not learn from your mistake then it is not worth. In this case you had experience of working on project/somewhere but you have not learnt anything. So my point is experience and learning is not same. If you have great experience on something then you can not be sure of learning aspect. But instead if you learnt something then it is for sure that you have great experience. And for learning it does not matter for how much duration you have worked. The only thing that count is “What you have learnt”.

Always look for learning factor in whatever you do. Experience will automatically come.
