Never Quit

Posted on

It has been a while since I posted something new here. I have written couple of book reviews but that is not part of the blog post. I was busy writing technical book titled “Learning Raspberry Pi“. Somewhere I read these lines

“If you have insights, experience and expertise that would benefit others; it’s selfish to keep it to yourself. When you think about it that way; writing is a way of contributing your gift to the world.”

I have been sharing my knowledge with the people whom I know since long but I believe by doing that I reached only certain numbers/types of people. So I decided to write a book and fortunately I got great publisher “Packt“. I don’t know how challenging it was for you ( Those who have already written a book) but for me it was quite challenging maintaining the timelines of chapters and handling the pressure of my day job. The number of revisions that each chapter goes through drains your energy. There were couple of moments when the work load in my day job was too much and I was lacking motivation to write. I almost quite at those moments but I did not. Whenever I felt low while in the process of writing book , I read the experiences of people who are best-selling author. Some of the quotes that kept me going.

“If my doctor told me I had only 6 months to live, I’d type a little faster.” – Isaac Asimov

“I want to do something splendid…
Something heroic or wonderful that won’t be forgotten after I’m dead…
I think I shall write books.”
Louisa May Alcott

Today , I feel proud of myself for not quitting. My book is available for pre-order now. As a human , we all struggle in achieving what we want and there are moments when we feel like quitting. For me it was writing book, For you , it could be starting a company , finishing college or finishing that long pending task. Whenever you feel like quitting , think about why you started. No matter what happens , never quit.

It is not an Experience if you can not learn from it.

We all have heard that “Experience makes man perfect”. “Experience is the best teacher”. But do we know the inside story. Recently I realized that  all the proverb/thoughts are right but not always. It is true that experience is the best teacher but only if you are ready to learn. For example you are working on some project/ somewhere and if you can not learn from your mistake then it is not worth. In this case you had experience of working on project/somewhere but you have not learnt anything. So my point is experience and learning is not same. If you have great experience on something then you can not be sure of learning aspect. But instead if you learnt something then it is for sure that you have great experience. And for learning it does not matter for how much duration you have worked. The only thing that count is “What you have learnt”.

Always look for learning factor in whatever you do. Experience will automatically come.

If You Don’t Know—Learn It…If You Know—Improve Upon It…

Learning is a lifelong process. The one who achieved something in their life always has a Learning Attitude. Someone has rightly said “One who graduated yesterday ,stop learning today ,will become uneducated tomorrow.” We can always learn something from anyone  anywhere and at anytime. An Engineer can also learn from Engineering student. If you are the Manager ,you can always learn something good from your employees. The real challenge in today’s world is People have EGO issue. We should leave that behind if we real want to make progress in our life. As a parent you can learn from  your children. As an teacher you can learn from your students. Every person on these universe is unique. Even Twins have their unique qualities.  Never look for something bad in a person. Everyone on these universe has something good. If you look for good in people then you can learn good things and you won’t have any problem in any relation ship.Never let EGO overshadow your eagerness to learn. So my message is

“If you don’t  know, learn it. If you know, improve upon it.”
